If you can make it here...

It's 5am in Brooklyn and pitch black, but my body is telling me it's time to get up and eat a huge New York breakfast. I'm blaming the time difference but there aren't many mid mornings when a pile of pancakes with blueberries, maple syrup and a side of bacon wouldn't go down a treat.
Last night was the first preview of The Caretaker in the jaw-droppingly beautiful theatre that is BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music). Deborah and I arrived with a couple of hours to spare before curtain up and having received directions from some very friendly NYPD officer (“what you're gonna do ladies, is you're gonna wawlk right on to the end of the block…”) we had a short meeting with Joe Melillo the charismatic Artistic Director of BAM, watched the show, toasted the cast and then almost 24 hours after we got up, collapsed in our beds.
The show is in wonderful shape and the new cast members Alan Cox and Alex Hassell are electrifying, as of course is our very own Mr Jonathan Pryce (who sends much love to Liverpool).
Many of the audience stood to cheer at the end of the show so we would seem to be in just the right position for tonight's press night.
As for Deborah and me, once we have consumed our own body weight in eggs over easy and granola and drunk buckets of quwoffee, we will be travelling to Manhattan for some more meetings and then back for press night to see if we've made it here (if you can, we've heard you can make it anywhere).
Now I'm gonna catch some shut eye. This city may never sleep but this woman needs to. Big day today in the Big Apple.... Poifect.
