Hello, I’m Emma. One year on from the Everyman Finale event, I have been the organising the wonderful memory tags received from the many people who came to the theatre on this day last year to share their stories and memories of the Everyman. I thought I would share some of our favourites!
We received many stories from people who had a personal connection with the building, and I loved reading this hilarious recollection in particular: ‘’Locking up late one night I was crossing over the stage all alone and heard ghostly laughter- devilish in face. Half petrified; I carried on doing my checks until I got down to dressing room 3… And two naughty actors were in there drinking gin and laughing their heads off!! Love to the Everyman and all the staff!’’
There was an overwhelming response to our Rock’n’Roll Pantomime; everyone here was overcome with gratitude that every year we are creating an event that is at the heart of many family’s festivities! Personally, for me and my family the Everyman and Playhouse Panto’ is a set date in the calendar every year!

There were so many heartrending memory tags that I read which placed the Everyman at the centre of many individual’s lives; many families have been coming to the Everyman for generations, and hopefully generations to come.

Out of the hundreds of memory tags we collected last July there were a number that described the Everyman as ‘Liverpool’s Theatre of Dreams’, and ‘The Theatre for the People of Liverpool’. We can only thank you for your on-going support, and reassure you that while the old building may have gone and the new one grows out of the ground, the magic of the Everyman hasn’t gone anywhere!

Today we launch the Everyone for the Everyman fundraising appeal; we would love anyone to get involved, however small, to help create a new Everyman and lots more memories.
Emma
