Frederick Douglass - Share Your Voice

Students explore poetry as a tool to share and express their own voices.

The workshop commemorates and recognises that Frederick Douglass, the prominent abolitionist, spoke at Hope Hall (now the site of the Everyman Theatre) on 19 Jan 1860, and gives students the opportunity to share what is important to them today.

The purpose of the workshop is to:

•    learn why and how we commemorate people from our history
•    creatively explore our local history and politics
•    continue learning in the classroom
•    support active citizenship
