Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi had its world première at the Playhouse in June 2008. Our Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz said:  “When Phil Willmott came to us with his vision of a musical that celebrated with wit and affection the history and idiosyncrasies of The Adelphi hotel, it seemed the perfect flavour to add to our wide-ranging programme for the Capital of Culture year.”

Unprotected had its world première at the Everyman in March 2006. A deeply moving and resonant piece of theatre that tackled the contentious issue of Liverpool’s plans for a managed zone for street sex workers. Such was the local and national acclaim, it demanded a wider audience and transferred to the Edinburgh Festival in August the same year, appearing at the Traverse theatre.

"A very fine example of how theatre can top journalism as a means of raising debate"

Yellowman had its UK première at the Everyman in April 2004. Our Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz said: “It is a play that celebrates the actor. A man and woman on stage create a whole society for us, an entire world of emotions.” Following its run in the Everyman, this production travelled to Hampstead Theatre.

“Dael Orlandersmith's two-hander is as magnificently acted as it is beautifully written”
