In June we welcome World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker to A Lovely Word. Harry published his debut anthology ‘The Sunshine Kid’ with Burning Eye in December 2014. The subsequent show of the same name was voted ‘Best Spoken Word show’ of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015.
Now a fully fledged maths graduate and full time poet/adventurer, Harry's work has been shared on TED.com and viewed millions of times worldwide, as well as being translated into 21 different languages. He is working on a new collection and currently touring his sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show ‘I am 10,000’ based on turning 10,000 days old!
A Lovely Word is an open spoken word poetry night that takes place on the first Thursday of the month usually in the Everyman theatre, but currently online. Whether you’re a first timer or a practised poet, everyone is invited to sign up for a open mic slot. Alternatively, you can simply sit back and listen.
The event is completely free. A Lovely Word is supported by the Everyman & Playhouse and Arts Council England, and aims to support emerging and emerged performance poets through artist development and advice.
