July’s headliner is Liverpool based spoken word artist Lyndsay Price. Brutally honest and almost aggressively vulnerable at times, Lyndsay writes mainly about: friendship, femininity, sisterhood, sexuality, fake news and 90s movies. Lyndsay has acted as lead artist for I Know, I Wish, I Will; a nationwide project that has secondary school children competing in a London slam, a lead artist for Beatfreeks, creating commissioned poetry for Birmingham Bullring and Cruise Liverpool where she was commissioned to write poetry for three major cruise ships that came into the city.
A Lovely Word is an open spoken word poetry night that takes place on the first Thursday of the month usually in the Everyman theatre, but currently online. Whether you’re a first timer or a practised poet, everyone is invited to sign up for a open mic slot. Alternatively, you can simply sit back and listen.
The event is completely free. A Lovely Word is supported by the Everyman & Playhouse and Arts Council England, and aims to support emerging and emerged performance poets through artist development and advice.
