Supporting Life Rooms & Mental Health in Lockdown

5 June 2020

Our on-going on-line creative programme which we enhanced for Mental Health Awareness Week is enthusiastically received by those involved and a life line for some.

The creative on-line programme for Mental Health Week involved 15 sessions (3 a day) with 159 places booked by 39 people and 140 places were taken up. During lockdown  we will have delivered 50 on-line creative sessions aimed at encouraging creativity, shared, live interaction and wellbeing involving e&P staff, local artists and University of Liverpool.

Participants have enjoyed drama improvisation including a silent movie themed drama project, creative writing, post-show digital theatre chat, creating and sharing stories, singing, shared reading and play reading as well as daily tea and chat with a variety of theatre professionals.

We have referred 8 individuals who have needed support with for example benefits, food, housing, mental health and practical support to Life Rooms Pathways Support and other support agencies.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, the Co-op Foundation who have helped support the Life Rooms at the Playhouse with Mersey Care, spoke to Rebecca (our Director of Creativity & Social Change) and a participant to see how the programme is going online, you can read that here
