The visit of Little Amal to Liverpool on 21 June 2022 during Refugee Week 2022 will live long in the memory of all who saw the 3.5 metre-tall living artwork of a young Syrian refugee child. Since July 2021 she has travelled over 8,000km in support of refugees, walking across Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands, Poland and Ukraine to focus attention on the urgent needs of young refugees.

At the Everyman & Playhouse we care passionately about how important arts and culture are in creating connection and understanding, so have partnered for many years with organisations such as Asylum Link and SOLA Arts in support of the many refugee families and communities that have found themselves in Liverpool seeking a new home. When the opportunity arose to bring her to Liverpool, we leapt at the chance.
