YEP // Meet our Young Advisors

YEP Young advisors

Our YEP Young Advisors group is made up of nine young people aged 14-25 who represent different backgrounds and life experiences living in the Liverpool City Region.

The group meet weekly as they advise on the next stage of our journey with our Young Everyman and Playhouse programme.

The Young Advisors' vision is to represent the voice of young people, their mission is to ensure YEP is inclusive and accessible, and to listen to the voices of other young people. Over the Autumn Term 2023, they were looking through feedback from our Have Your Say events and creative conversations in the community, giving their thoughts and ideas on solutions to the barriers that young people face in the creative industry.

Here is a summary of their findings

Young Advisors

Find out a bit more about the YEP Young Advisors team below!

Arianne - I’m a young advisor because I’d like to help YEP appear more inviting to a younger audience!
My favourite play is Beetlejuice.
My favourite biscuits are bourbons

Ava - I became a YEP advisor because I wanted to share my passions for acting and other arts with other young people and I want to help people explore ways they can become more confident with themselves and explore the things that they find interest in, sharing that it’s okay to express yourself through the arts genre.
One of the plays I like is Macbeth and my favourite biscuit is an Oreo.

Connor - I hope to serve as a voice for other disenfranchised creative people in my home city. I hope my experiences as both as a queer person and someone from a background of poverty and adversity can inform the work I do, with the goal of improving awareness of, and access to, creative careers.
I want people to realise that despite everything they have a shot at a enjoyable career, you don’t have to just work in a warehouse to pay your rent!
My favourite play is The Decision
My favourite biscuit is a Jammy wagon wheel - which is a biscuit and I won’t accept any other definition of it.

Isla - I decided to become a young advisor as it is important to me that as many people can get involved in youth theatre and as a member of young actors and with an interest in the other strands it sounded like a fun way to also improve many skills at the same time.
My favourite play is Macbeth.
My favourite biscuit is a ginger snap.

Josh - I hope to help the Everyman build a great roster of groups that can really help teach great theatre skills, and promote the amazing talent we have here in Liverpool!
My favourite play is Party by Tom Basden
My favourite biscuit has got to be a Choco Leibniz

Millie - I am a Young advisor because I want to help see how different strands of YEP work and how each strand can connect with each other. I was part of the YEP actors strand so this is really interesting for me to find out.
My favourite play is Prima Facie because the script is so well written and when I went to see it on the West End, Jodie Comer was absolutely amazing as Tessa.
My favourite biscuit is a Jammie Dodger

Penda - I want to be a young advisor because I want to help create a sense of belonging for all young people at YEP. I want to ensure young people from all backgrounds feel welcomed, included and that their voices are valued in shaping an arts scene that truly represents our local diverse society.
One of my favourite plays is La Casa Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca.
My favourite biscuit is lemon cream custard.

Aidan - I became a young advisor with the ambition to represent the voice of young people and influence decision making within Liverpool Everyman Theatre. As a team, we have a shared objective of ensuring programmes developed by YEP are appealing, inclusive and accessible to young people. As a young person with lots of experience in the arts, I hope to further improve the already incredible range of activities on offer here.

My favourite play is Birdland by Simon Stephens and my favourite biscuit is a chocolate digestive!

Ruby - I'm honoured to be a young advisor. I came to Liverpool after doing a 2-year Acting course in Birmingham and I'm studying Drama and Theology.
I am passionate about sharing my experiences of theatre and disability with people who haven't had chance to engage with the arts.
My favourite play is Blue Stockings by Jessica Swale, I loved performing in and exploring this play, and my favourite biscuit is a custard cream.
