To celebrate the Everyman's 60th birthday and our award-winning building turning 10, on Saturday 23 March we’ll be opening our ‘backstage doors’ from 11am until 3pm as we invite you to join us for free backstage tours, Q&A sessions and family-friendly activities across the building.

Frederick Douglass Plaque Unveiling
11am
The Frederick Douglass plaque, designed by Vicki Opomu will be revealed by the artist and members of the project panel, including historian Laurence Westgaph and Teena Cartwright-Terry (chair of the theatres' Diversity Action Group).
From First Draft to Stage
11:15am
Drop into our Writers Room and meet Tommo (our New Works Associate) who'll share how a play gets from first draft to stage. A great insight into our talent development programmes for writers, with a chance to ask questions.
Mini Maestros

A multi-sensory music session from Mini Meastros for under 5s and their grown-ups, taking place in the Street Café.
Q&A with panto legend Adam Keast

Every year our panto brings joy to thousands and Adam is one of the actors who has been at the heart of its recent success. Join him downstairs as he chats with BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Ngunan Adamu, with the chance to ask your own questions too. No booking required, this 45 minute session takes place downstairs at the Everyman.
Who was Frederick Douglass?
11:30am
A chance to find out more about Frederick Douglass, his importance in world history and connections to Liverpool and the Everyman. Hear from historian Laurence Westgaph, Adeyinka Olushonde, Teena Cartwright-Terry (chair of the theatres' Diversity Action Group) and artist Vicki Opomu. No booking required, this 30 minute session takes place in EV1.
Backstage Tours
Every 15 minutes from 11:45am to 1:45pm
Join a member of the team as they take you behind the scenes of our Stirling Prize winning building. You'll see areas usually off limits to audiences and get an insight to how we work in this 45 minute tour. Suitable for age 5+, the 12:15pm tour will have British Sign Language support. Tech Talk & Tour

Join Dan Franklin, Head of Production and his team for a specialist 60 minute tech session with exclusive access to the grid and understage. Suitable for 16+, you must wear sensible shoes and not be afraid of heights. Book on the day at box office and meet your tour guide by Shakespeare.

Call into EV1 and meet our Young Advisors who can tell you more about Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) and our work with young people.

The Magic of Stage Management
