5 minutes with Richard Bremmer
What are the three things you love most in life?
Those metal edgings on steps in tube and railway stations / Pythagoras / pebbles.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
An actor.
What is your earliest memory?
A family outing to my local theatre.
What makes you happy?
Complex harmony.
What makes you angry?
The idea of leaf-blowers, including their existence and use.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Columbo.
Which play changed your life?
All I remember is an old miser in a night-shirt and night-cap. I suspect it must have been a production of A Christmas Carol? (see earliest memory).
What’s exciting you about joining The Company?
Becoming part of an experience which will be greater than the sum of its components.
What are you looking forward to doing when you’re back in Liverpool next year?
Taking the ferry across the Mersey.
What was your first experience of the Everyman?
Appearing in Gemma Bodinetz's first show here: The Mayor Of Zalamea.
If you could invite anyone (dead or alive) for a drink in the bar who would it be and why?
Edward G. Robinson. The delivery of his big speech in Double Indemnity is reason enough – but I think he would be a cool guy to get to know – primarily a theatre actor, he would 'get' 'the Everyman' and particularly, this season.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned as an actor or the best advice received?
When dealing with people with attitude) "It's all a question of mind over matter....those that mind don't matter - and those that matter don't mind."
