Can you help us collect goods for Asylum Link Merseyside?
Throughout Everyword presents: Stories from the City we'll be collecting goods for Asylum Link, who are doing incredible work with asylum seekers and refugees in Liverpool.
Based in Edge Hill, Asylum Link is a drop-in centre dedicated to assisting asylum seekers and refugees and to raising public awareness around refugee issues. With one full time and six part time staff members, Asylum Link works with approximately 90 volunteers to provide friendship, help and advice and encourages the participation of asylum seekers and refugees in the service.
Below is a list of what they currently need, so please take a look and bring along any donations if you can to the Everyman Box Office, between Wed 11 May and Sat 14 May:
- Clothes Menʼs trainers in particular, and other good quality menʼs clothing. Kit, shorts, football gear etc. for the menʼs sports activities the centre runs
- Toiletries Shampoo, shower gel, soap, lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and gift sets as a treat for the women
- Non-perishable food sugar, vegetable oil, tinned fish, tea, instant coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and other sweet snacks
- Lined A4 paper pads and ballpoint pens for classes
They are also desperately in need of bicycles, as many people cannot afford the bus, but need a way to travel to Asylum Link and other places around the city. Both working and non working bicycles are useful, as they run maintenance classes. Please DO NOT bring these to the Everyman, but contact Asylum Link directly if you can help!
