Remembering Ann Stordy Fogg

Ann Stordy Fogg
Ann Stordy Fogg

A talented local writer, Ann Stordy Fogg was one of the first to attend the Everyman Theatre Workshop - a writing group arranged by the late Alan Dossor and playwright Cecil Taylor.

Together the group curated evenings of short plays, which were performed at the Everyman in the early 1970s. Ann’s short play Zelenski (Everyman, January 1972) was described as "absorbing" by a journalist from the Birkenhead News.

Ann went on to write short stories, poems, songs, radio plays and published her debut novel My Sweet Liverpool in 1980. She was a beloved mother to Danielle and Staszak and wife to John Fogg. Ann and John travelled the world (including circumnavigating the Antarctic) and watched many plays together at both the Everyman and Playhouse.

After Ann sadly passed away, John dedicated a plaque to commemorate her love for the Everyman and remember the times they shared at their theatre. John also kindly donated Ann’s work and correspondence to the Everyman Theatre Collection at Liverpool John Moores University Special Collections & Archives.

Ann’s legacy and work will live on for future generations to study in the archive and every penny raised from the seat plaque donation will help to inspire our future writers and theatre makers.

If you would like to dedicate a seat in memory of a loved one at the Everyman or Playhouse, please contact Amy Trego, our Development Manager, on 0151 706 9142 or email [email protected].
