Catch-up with Aron Julius
Aron Julius is playing 'Aron' in Love, Liverpool which will be at the Playhouse from the 5th - 14th of August.
How are rehearsals going?
Really good! We are all very eager and full of energy to bring this piece to life. Even with the social distanced rehearsals you could feel from day one that perfect mix of artistic curiosity and scouse flare. Not only is it refreshing to be rehearsing in a room with people and not over the Internet, it is also really exciting to be working on a piece that champions and celebrates the unity and togetherness of the city.
You wrote your own story as part of the Love Liverpool series, how does it feel to be able to perform that live?
It feels great to perform the piece I wrote live. I didn't realise when I wrote it that it would end up being a piece that reveals so much about me and my relationship to Liverpool and I'm excited to share that with my city. The challenge is translating something that was written for audio to stage. It's challenging. But, I love a challenge!
What does it mean to you to have to story of your special part of Liverpool performed at the Playhouse?
It actually means a lot! I didn't think it would but the more I think of it the more I see that it literally is letting the audience into what for me felt like a secret hiding place growing up. Like the new kid moving to your area and you considering whether or not to let them into your clubhouse.
What can people expect from the production?
People can expect to be moved. To laugh, to reminisce, to think and to feel warm. It's an opportunity to be engrossed in what it means to be in/from Liverpool from all eyes. I'm excited to share a unique look at life in Liverpool.
Can you describe Love Liverpool in three words?
Scouse, Courageous, Heart.
