Liverpool Everyman collaborate with Neptune Brewery to celebrate 60 years of theatre

19 Sep 2024

We have partnered with independent brewery, Neptune Brewery, to celebrate 60 years of the Everyman theatre with the launch of a brand-new beer, 1964.

1964, available at the Everyman theatre, Hope Street.

1964 is a delicious 4.4% Hazy New Zealand Pale and will be available from this Saturday 21 September, in draught and cans from our Theatre bar on Hope Street. It will also be available for visitors to enjoy alongside seasonal dishes in our Street Café. It’s the perfect drink for beer-lovers and newcomers alike with tropical fruits on the palate, notes of white grape and a refreshing citrus hit.

Our theatres have had a longstanding partnership with Neptune Brewery, after many years of stocking the award-winning brewery’s beers, and hosting food and drink pairing events Downstairs at the Everyman. Mike Lancaster, Manager of Bars at the Everyman and Playhouse, and other members of staff visited Neptune’s site in Bootle and got involved in all aspects of the beer-making process.

Mike said, “We were absolutely delighted when Julie and Les from Neptune proposed the idea for a collaboration on an Everyman Theatre 60th Birthday brew. The brewery shares lots of our core values and it feels like a real kindred partnership. For the past 60 years the Everyman Theatre has forged forward with creativity and experimentation at its core, paying respect to its history whilst also looking forward to the future.

After meeting with Julie and Les at their brewery it was clear that their approach to embracing the art of creating beer fits with us perfectly. The whole process has embraced our collaborative natures and all at the Theatre are excited about tasting the fruits of our efforts.”

Julie O’Grady, Co-owner of Neptune Brewery, said: “It’s an honour to have brewed 1964 in collaboration with the Liverpool Everyman. It is a much-loved theatre that is synonymous with the city, and many of us here at Neptune have grown-up watching performances there or enjoyed visiting with friends and family. As a fellow Liverpool business, we’re thrilled to be a part of the celebrations and are incredibly proud to have produced this special beer to mark their 60th birthday.”

1964 is available to purchase in our Street Café and pre and post-show from the Theatre bar at the Everyman.
