The Wedding // Gecko masterclass
Gecko’s latest creation (The Wedding) is inspired by the complexities of human nature; the struggle between love and anger, creation and destruction, community and isolation. In a blur of wedding dresses and contractual obligations, their extraordinary ensemble of international performers guides audiences through a dystopian world in which we are all brides, wedded to society.
Gecko masterclass
Explore ideas and techniques for engaging young people in devising and physical theatre. Aimed at facilitators or teachers currently working with young people in Liverpool, this workshop will serve as an introduction to Gecko’s devising techniques, methods for creating movement and approaches to preparing a group or class for work.
As well as giving participants the chance experience Gecko’s unique style of movement and physical theatre, the session will include preparation exercises, group discussions, tasks and techniques, that participants can use elements of in their own teaching practice. These workshops are always highly physical and dynamic, so participants should wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity (no shoes, jewellery or trainers) and bring plenty of water.
