YEP Directors Festival 2023: Far Away
Fri 28 Jul to Sat 29 Jul 2023
EVERYMAN, EV1
Confronting our deepest fears, Caryl Churchill’s Far Away depicts a society engulfed in war, with civilians terrified of betrayal from every angle. From deceit within family circles, to a global war between every species, Far Away is a howl of anguish at the increasing – and increasingly accepted – levels of inhumanity in a world seemingly perpetually involved in conflict.
With the central theme focused on an authoritarian government turning the people against each other, this play urges the audience to question themselves and the world they live in. How complicit are we? Why don’t we question more? Should we challenge? Or is ignorance bliss?
