Tommy Graham has worked as an artist and illustrator in Liverpool for over 20 years. He has won awards for his bold and outlandish paintings, heavily influences by his love of cartooning and comic book art.
In 2021, Tommy was diagnosed with cancer, and began a long series of treatments and surgeries. During this time, Tommy found himself catastrophising over worst case scenarios. In a bid to distract himself from such rumination, he decided instead to catastrophise about absurdist scenarios from cryptology, science fiction and folklore, expressed in the form of comic book covers and using his adopted home of Liverpool as the backdrop. As such, he created Unreal Comics, an ever expanding collection of comic book covers, detailing events that never happened and stories that don’t exist. In 2025, the initial 17 illustrations were exhibited as a Solo Exhibition in the Royal Liverpool Building, and since then Tommy has continued to expand the collection, as well as create offshoots inspired by icons of art, music and popular culture. He has also recently finished a 4 print series especially for Everyman & Playhouse.
Tommy has exhibited internationally, created large-scale public art and worked on numerous campaigns, including for the Everyman & Playhouse. His treatments are going well, and he lives in Liverpool with his wife, two dogs and an enormous, malcontent cat.
Prints can be purchased from The Everyman Staff (card payment only).
