'Keep on Keeping on' by David Brightmore

Born in Yorkshire, I studied Business Management in Cardiff and Fine Art in Sheffield. From 1985 to 2004 I lived in Snowdonia, where I also learned the Welsh language. I now live in Mold, close to the Clwydian hill range. I have explored most of the mountains and hills of North Wales on foot, and while my landscapes are rarely tied to a specific location, they aim to convey the dramatic and lyrical qualities of the region.

A full-time painter since 2000, my work is described as vibrant and energetic, exploring the rhythms of land and figure, a theme I developed during my M.A. in Fine Art at Glyndŵr University in 2011.

I have exhibited widely in galleries and over 100 art fairs across the UK, and in 2016 was proud to be elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy. During the last three years I have produced over sixty figurative paintings related to the pandemic;
from a series entitled ‘Virus-man’, I developed ‘Out of the woods’, then as the vaccination programme progressed the more optimistic series ‘C’mon, let’s go!’
As there appeared to be a control of our pandemic predicament I produced a series is entitled ’Shining through’. Throughout the period, however, I have regularly produced drawings and paintings entitled ‘Keep on keeping on’, which it seems to me, is what we all must do.

This exhibition at the Everyman will present a small selection of my recent artwork.
Artwork can be purchased from The Everyman Staff (card payment only).
