An exhibition by Roisin Lyst. 1st - 14th April.

I am a 23-year-old self-taught artist now based in Northumberland, but having lived in Liverpool for the past 3 years, where I gained a lot of inspiration for my art and developed the style you see here.

I have been selling my art for the past 10 years, having set up a business selling watercolour animal portraits when I was 13, which I still do now. However, I have always been inspired by light, music, relationships and stories, which lead me to explore a more creative art practise. During my time in Liverpool, I spent a lot of time enjoying the live music in venues such as the Cavern Club and Frederik’s jazz bar, and becoming increasingly inspired by the energy and atmosphere I experienced. I first started painting with acrylics in 2023 and found it to be the perfect medium to portray that feeling.

My aim is to evoke emotion, to transport the viewer somewhere and make them feel calm, excited, nostalgic or warm. Some of my paintings are inspired by particular stories or people, but I like that each viewer might interpret each painting differently based on their own perspective and experience.

I sell my paintings at exhibitions, in galleries and to private collectors, and I also offer commission work. I have sold artwork to collectors as far as Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.

My acrylic work can be seen at www.roisinlyst.co.uk and on Instagram, @roisinlyst.
