A tender, trippy, and deeply human one-person show about the places people can get lost online, and how we find our way back.
Through poetry, storytelling, and old-school liquid light projection, multi-award-winning performer Grace Tompkins takes the audience on a journey into the strange digital world of online extremism.
As playful and surprising as it is urgent, Scrambled explores spaces designed to prey on vulnerability while promising belonging. Grace’s own lived experience of online radicalisation and recovery sits at its heart, woven together with years of research, conversations with local communities, and work alongside at-risk young people. What emerges is a love letter to resistance, survival, and community.
First conceived as a 15-minute interlude in Anti-Fascist Cabaret (Homotopia 2023), Scrambled has since grown, with excerpts performed at The Unity Theatre and as headliner for Shakespeare North Playhouse’s Scratch. This performance marks its debut in full.
At once joyful and unsettling, intimate and spectacular, Scrambled asks how we resist being pulled apart and how we hold each other close.
Presented as part of Homotopia Festival 2025.
