The Everyman has always existed to nurture vibrant emerging voices and daring new work – and that isn’t just limited to our own stage.

As part of our work to support Liverpool’s wider theatre ecology, we host regular events to build resilient and fruitful creative networks, develop knowledge and skills, and share resources.

Each month, we offer:

  • Production Process workshops, where Everyman & Playhouse staff share their expertise
  • Creative Co-working, with prompts for discussion and peer-learning.
  • Open Houses, offering drop-ins with members of different E&P teams.

And, during previews for every in-house production, we run a Freelancers’ Mixer with free drinks and a discounted ticket to see the show.

Production Process

We run monthly workshops for local creatives to look at all elements of a production process with Everyman & Playhouse staff.

New workshops are constantly being added, drawing on our in-house expertise and responding to requests from our community of freelance artists, but examples include:

You can see what’s coming up via our What’s On page (use the filter to highlight workshops), and sign up to attend.

Places are capped at 20 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Creative Co-working

On the first Thursday of the month, we host a co-working day for local creatives.

We think it’s important for theatre makers to have space to discuss the opportunities and challenges that are unique to their role, as well as moments to come together with other creatives and forge new collaborations.

That means these co-working days currently cycle between:

  • writers
  • directors and makers
  • producers
  • everyone.

Prompts to kick off discussion are provided by Tommo, our New Works Associate, at 11.30am – and the rest is up to you!

So grab a friend and come on down to the Writers’ Room at the Everyman to meet, chat, rant, plot and dream together.

Dates are advertised in the Theatremakers’ Newsletter.

Open House

Every month, one of our in-house teams sets up and works in the Everyman Street Café – and you’re welcome to come in and chat!

These regular drop-ins are a nice, informal way to meet different members of the Everyman & Playhouse staff, introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have.

Open Houses are on rotation between the following teams:

  • Artistic
  • Events
  • Marketing
  • New Works.

Dates are advertised in the Theatremakers’ Newsletter, along with guidelines for what each team would be well-placed to discuss.

Freelancers’ Mixer

If you’re a freelance theatre artist of any kind, come and connect with fellow creatives living and working in the city, as well as members of our Artistic team.

Our Mixers are free to attend, and offer a mixture of talks, discussions and networking opportunities.

They’re held during preview for our in-house productions at the Everyman, and often include members of the creative team – as well as offering free drinks and a discounted ticket to see the show afterwards.

We also know that events like this can be overstimulating or stressful, so offer a quiet space in the Writers’ Room before and during each Mixer.

To find out about more dates for our next Mixers, send us an email to sign up for our Theatremakers’ Newsletter, or keep an eye on our social media channels.
